I have been gone for a while (last entry 10/23/07)
I have nothing really to add. I am not sure what to post about. My life is pretty drab as this point. Chloe makes it all the better. She is my little chubby cheek princess. Yet the lack of funds is a nightmare. I need money. Lots of it. Yes need is the keyword.
I know I will bitch about money and our system, Maine has some of the highest tax rates and worst job placement in the country
I have never understood why countries award unproductive behavior, and screw the rich. Yes the rich do get screwed. Yes they hide their wealth and do tax write offs, but wouldn't you if you lost 35% of your gross income and assets every year? I think you would. Yes the rich have to pay a third of their wealth to the American government, that means you have a hundred dollars it just went to 65. That is nuts.
I am not against monetary assistance to the needy, but I do believe in stricter regulations, less over head management and more doers for the system. I find that our welfare system is broken. We reward the negligent and rip apart the people that make money.
I am given a hefty sum of money at the end of the week. I have a hundred and seventy dollars removed by the state and federal.
If I work a day less, I lose a hundred and twenty five You see my point? Why does me making more, mean I make less? I do not understand the situation.
It is almost like my country is telling me to not work hard, because they will cover me if I am a failure. This is a frustrating message we give our countrymen. Make more and you will be held to a higher expectation.
Now before people may think I am against the poor. I am against the poor that do the following
- Chain smoking (they are on state assistance and have three kids) <--- if this is any of you, I am not changing my opinion. Think of it as you are borrowing mom and dad to eat, do you then spend that money on junk food? You can chain smoke all you want, but a condition to having money from other tax payers should mean no buying smokes. Mind you, I am talking strictly about the unemployed and non-intact family (baby breeding factories, they exist in Maine in large amounts<---get some condoms).
- Drinking beer, drinking lots of it. <---- as above.
- Lavish spending at the beginning of each month instead of covering your actual expenses with your state check. While your children walk around in grimy clothing.
I have experienced what I have described first hand, I have known the people I speak of as family members, acquaintances, and case studies (my job)
Our country is in a sad state of affairs, but it could be worse.
Middle class get it in the ass. Mind you I am bending over right now. I make too much money for heating assistance... fuck me.

that's crazy that you lose more money by missing work than actually working.
i completely agree 100% with the things that irritate you about people who are poor.
plus, i'm easily irritated, so there was a really good chance i would have agreed with things that irritate you too.
YES! Middle class do get it in the a*$. It SUCKS! I HATE taxes. I work hard for my money. Sure I would love to help out people in need, but I don't think that is where our taxes REALLY go to :)
GLAD to have you back!
I'm surprised. I always got the impression you were more liberal fiscally rather than conservative. I totally agree that progressive taxes are unfair, but socialism isn't about fairness. That's why I don't like it.
Sorry to hear you're under a lot of stress. I can't imagine what it is like being responsible for taking care of three other people with just my income.
About the baby factories, what do you think of a 5 kid limit?
Yes it makes me quite sad when I see what I made before taxes and then look at what I'm left with.
Demon you are so right - on every count - we do get screwed for making more and it sometimes seems like the country rewards those who sit on their ass all day and do nothng (except screw ad have 100 kids) as they have more money to play with and none of it gets taxed. It rewards those who do nothing and have no ambition but I feel that the truly heroic are those who work hard for their families even though they are being reamed by the government. Yes, the middles class should just bend over permanantly...
money... I have a love/hate relationship with it. sigh.
Money...what is money? I don't know if I have ever seen it before? LOL
Where have you been bitch? I know you came by and made me get off my butt and start blogging again; you better do the same.
Come on over man!
Do not even get me started about money! My last raise got me $25 more a week gross, but actually had me bringing home $3 a week less. It's ludicrous!
I have been a single mom raising 2 kids for over 10 years now. I have to admit the pressures of money are my biggest stress. It's hard not to let it get in the way of what's really important.
Cher I get so passionate on topics, I have no friends politically, liberal or conservative. I do not fit the bill of conformity and it costs me in debates... I get rather pissy about our welfare system. Believing it should exist, but not in its present condition.
Appletini Our system is about the people that can afford due process. A black man goes to court for drug charges, he will get 10 years. Rush Limbaugh(SP?) got to go to a tx facility. WTF?
Kim I am not into labels. I am more into what I believe works. We all have that concept and we believe our way is the best way. I think if I get mixed up with too many labels then I will lose sight of my objectivity.
I do not like people that suck making children period, but there is no appropriate way to handle it.
How about a 3 kid limit? Maybe. I am not sure.
Airam Yes taxes blow... but they are needed to fund the machine that we call life. Society is needed to govern the masses.
Princess my Political belief is that we should assist people who will assist themselves. Ending the chain that make people like them. Yet the oversight and inept keep the status quo and the system assists the broken who wish to remain broken.
Kitten Aren't we all in the same boat :D
Laura I have been rather busy, but yes I am here now. I will stop on by some time in the next day or two, that goes for all of you. Already I blogged for a little too long. Yet you guys are worth it.
Darkness Hon, society does not give two shits about single moms despite several initiatives by our government (you in the states?) We support those that do not support themselves... if you are trying to better yourself... too fucking bad, evidently.
None the less, as Princess said there is something said for strong families who support themselves despite the odds.
